New study assessing outreach work with adults

Friday, 21 October 2016

The University of Leeds is to take part in a new research project to determine the best ways universities can reach out to mature learners, particularly those in under-represented groups.

The six-month project, commissioned by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA), will address a critical gap in Widening Participation policy: sector understanding of outreach aimed at adults rather than school pupils, and looking at groups currently under-represented in higher education. My LLC internship (part two)

Wednesday, 21 September 2016

The following blog post is from University of Leeds student Rachel Ireland. During my recent internship as Blended Learning Materials Evaluator at the Lifelong Learning Centre my main role was to evaluate resources that were being developed using a blended learning approach for students starting their Foundation Degree in Child and Family Studies this month. I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of institutions that were represented, from Sunderland to London. After being welcomed by the LLC Director Tony Ellis, we heard from the first of two keynote speakers. Jackie Dunne, Deputy Vice...

Posters in Parliament

Friday, 12 February 2016

Farkhanda Amin, a former student on our part-time Certificate of Higher Education in Arabic, Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies and now a full-time undergraduate in the Department of Arabic, Islamic and Middle Studies, was one of two students recently selected by the University to present their research proposals at the Houses of Parliament. Farkhanda was taking part in the 'Posters in Parliament' initiative where chosen students have the opportunity to discuss their work with legislators and policy makers. The focus of Farkhanda's research is exploring how Islamic approaches could be utilised to enhance the treatment of mental health...
