The graduation ceremony for our foundation degrees and top-up programmes was even more of an occasion than usual this year with students from the LLC receiving their degrees in the company of those being awarded honorary doctorates by the University - the actor Patrick Stewart and our former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Arthur. This could hardly have been more fitting. Both are shining examples of what can be possible - both from backgrounds that would not have suggested future success and both going on...

When the academic year comes to an end, for many students that means they’re finishing their programme of study – time to be awarded (and rewarded). This July I had the pleasure of helping to organise some of the celebrations. First, LLC students who had completed their degree or Foundation Degree were awarded at their ceremony, and this was followed by the graduate reception in the Refectory dining room.
