As well as being a tutor teaching on Business programmes within the Lifelong Learning Centre I am also a student myself and am presently two years into a six year PhD. My own research interests come from my working experiences in marketing and recruitment (a focus on meeting the needs of customers) and academia (a focus on sharing knowledge and expertise to improve the skills of others). In my last post I mentioned research I am undertaking and thought it might be useful to expand on how the 'professional gaze' can hinder as well as help in supporting families. Alongside my role as the Deputy Programme Manager for our Children, Young People and Family Studies programmes, I am also actively involved in research into how national policy is developed and influences service delivery and families.
