Creative Writing

Learning about and becoming a creative writer. Available as Discovery Modules only.

All of our Creative Writing courses are designed to get you writing and learning more about yourself as a writer. We work with students through a combination of writing exercises, learning to read as a writer, peer and tutor feedback and a careful balance of theory with practice. Each module develops specific skills and techniques in the craft of writing and storytelling and is delivered in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

We offer modules to those students that just want to have a go and to those interested in pursuing writing as a profession. You can take a module at any point throughout your degree or choose to pursue a progression pathway from Year 1 to Year 3. Everyone is welcome – all you need is a genuine enjoyment of the written word and a desire to express your own creative ideas.

If you are interested in embedding Creative Writing within your degree you can choose to specialise in Creative Writing through the Discovery pathway available as part of our BA Professional Studies programme.

Please note that these modules are only available to registered students at the University of Leeds. We do not offer these modules as stand alone opportunities for study.
