Typical entry requirements
BA Geography and BA Geography with Transport Planning: two A Levels including Geography (excluding General Studies) or equivalent qualifications/experience or (for applicants without formal qualifications) successful completion of the University of Leeds Alternative Entry Scheme. BSc Geography: two A Levels including Geography (excluding General Studies). BSc Geography-Geology: two A Levels in Geography or equivalent, plus one in any of the following - Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Maths or Physics.

The School of Geography at Leeds is one of the UK’s leading geography departments.  Our internationally recognised research underpins teaching at all levels.  The syllabus has particular strengths in social and cultural geography, retail planning, urban geography, transport, development, global environmental change, ecology, hydrology, glaciology and environmental management.

BA Geography  

This programme focuses on human geography. You will use geographical methods to explore and analyse the complex and reciprocal relationships between human societies and cultures, and the links with the physical landscape. BSc Geography

This programme focuses on physical geography and enables students to investigate Earth surface processes and study the relationships between the physical components of the Earth, the environment, the landscape and human society. BA Geography with Transport Planning

The programme combines study of human and environmental geography with transport policy in order to develop your understanding of links between transport, development and the environment.  Optional modules on a wide range of themes allow you to specialise through the programme and at level 3 you will  complete a dissertation on a subject of your choice. BSc Geography-Geology

This programme devotes equal time to the study of physical geography and geology. Initially, you study a range of aspects of physical geography, aimed at providing knowledge of physical sciences comprising studies of the principles of geological sciences, earth history and the properties of rocks and minerals. Later on in the programme you progress to studying the links between geography and geology and gain an understanding of geological processes in interpreting landscape and sedimentary environment evolution. Teaching methods include lectures, group work, presentations, tutorials, practicals and fieldwork.  

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a combination of coursework and examinations.
