Do you have an inquiring mind? Would you like to work towards your ‘dream’ career? Do you want to return to learn and gain a degree?
Our BA Interdisciplinary Studies programme is a four year extended degree designed for applicants who do not currently meet admissions criteria for direct entry to a degree and who can benefit from a programme that begins with a Foundation Year which provides intensive, well-structured support. The programme is part of the University’s commitment to inclusion and widening participation. This is reflected in the prioritisation of applicants (see entry criteria).
The programme is an opportunity for you to study part-time at the University of Leeds and progress to a degree programme of your choice. Designed with mature students in mind, the programme runs on two evenings each week and occasionally at weekends so you can study whilst juggling your other commitments. You will be supported in developing academic skills to enable you to study at a Higher Education (HE) level, whilst also gaining subject knowledge in an area linked to your chosen degree pathway.
Pathways include healthcare-related degrees such as Midwifery, Radiology, Nursing, Social Care and Dental Health and Hygiene, as well as programmes like Sociology, Psychology, Modern Languages, English and Communication and New Media.
We also support students to access the range of degrees offered by the Lifelong Learning Centre, including Learning and Teaching, Child and Family Studies, Contemporary and Professional Studies and Business Management.
You will receive support from your tutors throughout the course, including one-to-one tutorials, additional academic support and skills building workshops. Class sessions are combined with web-based material and our own Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to provide you with an interactive, engaging and stimulating learning experience. Whether you want to change your career or improve your prospects, you can apply for a place on the programme and learn in a supportive and friendly atmosphere with others like yourself.
