Do you have an inquiring mind? Would you like to work towards your ‘dream’ career? Do you want to return to learn and gain a degree?
The BA Interdisciplinary Studies is a four year extended degree designed for applicants who do not currently meet admissions criteria for direct entry to a degree and who can benefit from a programme that begins with a foundation year which provides intensive, well structured support. The programme is part of the University’s commitment to inclusion and widening participation. This is reflected in the prioritisation of applicants (see entry criteria).
The programme is an opportunity for you to study part-time at the University of Leeds and progress to a degree programme of your choice. Designed with mature students in mind, the programme runs on an evening and occasional weekends so you can study whilst juggling your other commitments. You will be supported to develop academic skills to enable you to study at a Higher Education (HE) level, whilst also gaining subject knowledge in an area linked to your chosen degree pathway.
Pathways include healthcare related degrees; Midwifery, Radiology, Nursing, Dental Health and Hygiene, and social care, or subject programmes; Sociology, Psychology, English, Communication and New Media, Languages and Literature.
We also support students to access the range of degrees offered by the Lifelong Learning Centre including; Learning and Teaching, Child and Family Studies, Contemporary and Professional Studies, and Business Management.
You will receive support from your tutors throughout the course including; 1 to 1 tutorials, additional academic support and skills building workshops. Class sessions are combined with web based material and our own virtual learning environment to provide you with an interactive, engaging and stimulating learning experience. Whether you want to change your career or improve your prospects, you can apply for a place on the programme and learn in a supportive and friendly atmosphere with others like yourself.
