Over here at the LLC we’re gearing up for the University of Leeds Open Day that’s coming this Saturday 11th October. We’re holding a series of talks about our Science (Interdisciplinary Science, Earth and Environmental Science and Studies in Science), Arts and Humanities, and Business Studies Foundation Years, as well as talks on returning to study as a mature student and our part-time and professionally related programmes. If you can’t make it to a talk, don’t worry, we’re having a drop-in session all day from 09:30-15:30 where you can talk to us about anything (within reason!). There’ll be tea, coffee and biscuits too – always a plus in my book.
Whether you’re sure you want to go to university or not, wherever you are in considering it as an option, it’s a real eye-opener to actually get on campus. Go to as many open days as you can, that would be my advice. Every university is different, and your experiences there will be different too. Talk to the students, the academic and support staff, the other visitors there, soak in the surroundings, check out the facilities, visit the students’ union, and get a real feel for the place. Ask any questions you like and explore where you want to. Make the most of it. I look forward to meeting lots of you on Saturday.
