I teach the modules Information Literacy and Child Development and Learning for our BA Interdisciplinary Studies with Preparation for Higher Education programme and the module Teaching Research in Education for our FD and BA Learning and Teaching programmes. I also support our Communities and Partnerships team by facilitating sessions on the JumpStart course, the annual Adult Learner Summer School and more recently the Leeds Prison Service.
I am a dissertation supervisor for our FD and BA Learning and Teaching and BA Professional Studies programmes.
My transcendental phenomenological study is exploring part-time mature undergraduates’ experiences of using social media to connect with peers during their first year of study. By including first-hand accounts from the perspective of the individual, and past experiences of education, I aim to present the essence of this lived experience, with a particular emphasis on the learning journey, social connectedness and sense of belonging.
