These days ‘change management’ is a frequently heard phrase in the world of work, but what does it actually mean? This question was very much on our minds recently as the Lifelong Learning Centre’s Business Team designed and delivered a bespoke ‘Leadership and Change’ programme with a national employer. The programme addressed common change management challenges to organisations in today’s challenging business environment; as well as offering some practical solutions to help manage these.

During the programme delegates were invited to examine their own experiences of change within organisations and directed to practical case studies around the subject to gain an understanding of the impact of change upon individuals, groups and organisations.

To conclude the course, delegates presented their recommendations, based on academic theory, on how they would deal with change within their organisations. All tutors agreed that the standard of these was excellent and demonstrated that delegates had not only understood the subject but also applied the content of the programme successfully to their workplace. The delegates were equally impressed; feedback described it as “a very useful, interesting and enjoyable” opportunity to “meet a wide variety of individuals from across different sectors to discuss management experiences.”

Overall, I’m delighted the programme was such a great success and we look forward to the next programme starting in 2015!
