2014/15 was another successful year for our Certificate of Higher Education in Arabic, Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies, with 14 students completing their studies and graduating from the LLC. These students will be able to draw on new skills, display greater confidence and bring new perspectives to whichever path they choose to follow, and we wish them all the best for the future.
A number of our graduates have joined level two of the BA Islamic Studies degree taught by University colleagues in the Department of Arabic, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. They follow in the footsteps of previous cohorts who have completed the programme since its launch in September 2012. Indeed, 2015/16 will be something of a milestone in that it will see students from this first intake completing their Honours degrees and graduating from Leeds.
All of the students who joined the Cert HE in 2014/15 have successfully progressed onto its second year, and we have high hopes that they will exceed expectations by either going on to enhance their Arabic language skills with a Year Abroad in Morocco or Egypt or continue their studies in Leeds with a further two years of full-time study.
We have launched an exciting, revamped version of the Cert HE for 2015/16 and have recruited a diverse range of students, who will have the opportunity to progress to a wider range of degree programmes offered by the Department of Arabic, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. We wish them every success in the new academic year.
