With the pressure mounting for students to get to grips with their personal statements, we are advising students to go to as many open days as possible and at the University of Leeds we are having ours this Saturday (12 October). At the open day the Lifelong Learning Centre will be hosting a range of events that will focus on foundation year, mature and part-time learning. There will be talks on finance, progression, academic support and specific LLC programmes. These sessions aim to break down barriers to Higher Education and increase aspirations.
We are pleased to support Make Your Future Happen: Discover Higher Education, a national week-long campaign – running 12 – 18 October – to increase awareness of the value of higher education.
The campaign is centrally co-ordinated by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) working closely with universities, colleges and higher education organisations including Universities UK, Student Finance England and the National Careers Service. The week is all about promoting the benefits of higher education, illustrating how higher education can work for anyone, at any age, with the right ability who is interested in studying. The campaign is particularly focused on the benefits of part-time study, which is often overlooked by prospective students.
Students can pre-book here where you can indicate an interest in part-time or foundation year study. Alternatively you can just turn up on the day to the Lifelong Learning Centre on Level 11 in the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building.
