The Lifelong Learning Centre is really looking forward to hosting this year’s international SCUTREA Conference at Weetwood Hall between Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th July.

The conference takes as its theme ‘It’s All Adult Education’ and the papers, roundtable discussions and poster presentations will demonstrate how the field of adult education covers a wide spectrum of educational, training, informal and independent learning activity. Delegates will be discussing papers looking at a range of research into theoretical concepts, policy and practice. The papers will cover work undertaken with adults representing a whole gamut of ages, diversity and life experiences.

At a time when adult education and lifelong learning in many countries is in a state of flux, with little protection from anti-austerity measures, the contributions to this conference reveal that there still remains a real passion and enthusiasm from researchers and practitioners alike in undertaking work with adults.

We are keeping to SCUTREA’s traditions of creating an atmosphere that is friendly, inclusive and supportive. In addition, in keeping with the LLC ethos we will kick off the conference by hearing from our inspirational adult learners.

We extend a very warm Leeds welcome to everyone who has already booked a place at the conference – there are still some places available so if you’re interested in attending please contact my colleague Rebeca Brook on 0113 343 7892 /
