Beccy Stirrup

Beccy StirrupMy role as the Programme Leader for Creative Writing involves working to enhance the programme by developing the modules that we offer and establishing appropriate links across programmes. I manage the Creative Writing team and I teach a range of modules across the Creative Writing and other programmes.

I am also a Technology Enhanced Learning Officer, which involves working with staff and students in their use of technology. I have a particular interest in developing short animations (or cartooned sequences) to convey complex concepts in more immersive and engaging ways. This has impacted my own teaching and I have also worked with tutors across the LLC to begin embedding this approach within their blended learning. I am also really interested in gamification and particularly in gamifying Higher Education.

My background is in community writing and this kind of work has taken me from Wakefield to Gujurat, India. I enjoy writing across a number of forms: prose, poetry, script and comics. I write regular webcomics and I am also writing a comic series based around my Granddad. I have worked with a number of writers to help them in their professional development and enjoy bringing this focus to my teaching. I love teaching and work hard to help each student develop their skills and approach to writing creatively.
