Lifelong Learning Centre

Vivienne Griggs

My role as Deputy Director (Student Education) for the Lifelong Learning Centre involves strategic management and leadership of the LLC programmes. This includes managing the quality assurance and enhancement procedures and leading on new initiatives, such as the development of apprenticeships, enhancing blended learning and inclusive teaching and learning practices. As a multi-disciplinary School, the issues can be wide-ranging but we are all working towards providing students with a first class educational experience.

I started my career as a Human Resource Manager and then moved into lecturing and managing HR programmes before joining the LLC. My specialist areas are: Learning and Development; Leadership Development; Coaching and Mentoring; Continuous Professional Development; Reflective Practice. My research has focused on understanding and facilitating effective learning. This provides a link between people development and evidence-based scholarship. As my research has been driven by an aim of enhancing my academic practice it has included both curricular and pedagogic development initiatives.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and part of the editorial panel for Advances in Developing Human Resources (ADHR).
